Subtractors in Digital Electronics

The subtractors consists of four possible elementary operations, namely,

    In all operations, each subtracted bit is subtracted from the minuend bit. In case of second operation the minuend bit is smaller than the subtrahend bit, hence 1 is borrowed. These are the functions of Subtractors.

There are two main types of Subtractors,

They are :

• Half Subtractor
• Full Subtractor

The Half Subtractor performs the subtraction of two input bits.

The Full Subtractor performs the subtraction of three input bits.
